The human experience is a result of a conscious human mind observing an event. I chose the human condition as my project because I feel like there is lots to explore with this project. I feel as if the idea of exploring feelings and emotion through photography can be extraordinary. We talk and believe in things that we are not able to see for example; People who a religious are told to believe in a God which they do not actually know exist.
The human condition;" The characteristics, key events, and situations which compose the essentials of human existence, such as birth, growth, emotionality, aspiration, conflict and mortality."

Dorothea Lange
Dorothea was a American documentary photographer and photojournalist. Her photos express the human impact of a massive economic disaster. She shows us ordinary people, workers and mothers, who are attempting to carry on with their lives in terrible circumstances. For example, the 'Migrant Mother' series depicts a small family at the roadside. They are seeking a better life.
My response
For my response I decided to take photos of people and how they show emotion through they're faces when being outside wether if that is being by themselves or with friends and family.
Research Visit to Tate Modern
Controlled assessment-Bill Leslie
Bill Leslie is a visual artist who is based in London. He came in to do a workshop with us which i found different and interesting because, what he had told us to do was simple but abstract in a way. At first we had to record the room using our phones with one hand but you could not look at what you was recording, then we would put all the phones in the middle of the room play the recordings and record them. Every time we had finished one recording we would have less people record on their phones and we would repeat it. We then got assigned into different groups to do different activities .
Peter Fraser's Mathematics
|
The project that I am looking at is focused on mathematics and how it is seen through photography. He included nine portraits in the 52 images in the book 5 of the nine were asked to consider that if something that they had believed was true they're whole life was no longer true e.g. if someone had believed in God and found out that there was no God. He also didn't tell people which 5 was the people who he told to think about this and it was up to the viewer to imagine.

Some of his photos
For my project I am going to take a picture of people with they're natural facial expression and then I am going to ask them to think of something that has happened in they're life that they enjoyed, so then I can put both of them next to each other on big A3 paper and then ask people which one they think is the one they are thinking about something they enjoyed.
I am going to have 3-6 people.
I am going to have 3-6 people.
First attempt
I could improve this by asking them to not show by they're facial expressions when I take the photo so when people look at it they don't know which one
Giuseppe Penone
Penone is an Italian photographer, he took a series of photos of his body and then printed them and put them on a grid. To do this he got a glass slide and pressed.
written response.
What do you see in this photograph?
In this photograph I see a close up photograph of a post it note on a white background. The post it note fills the frame so we cant really tell what surface it was on but it seems like a refrigerator or a kitchen wall. The writing was written in black and red pen and it is all in capital letters which suggest the person who left the note was shouting or ordering the person they left it for.
What things do you recognise in this photograph? What things seem new to you?
It is unusual that he took a photograph of that because it is not like most other photographs that we would see as when we would look at a photograph it would have space and depth to it and in the space there would be objects but in this photograph there is no depth to it and its sort of like a photograph in a photograph meaning the post it is like a photograph with writing on it.
